USB Port to Serial Port
Recently computers and most notably portable or laptop computers are coming without a 9-pin serial port. Some computer
manufacturers are eliminating the 9-pin serial port because a lot of serial devices being manufactured today are being made to use the newer
USB port. This poses a problem if the you want to use the computer with a GTCO digitizer. The GTCO Digitizer will only work with a 9-pin
serial port. So, if you find yourself with a new computer and need to be able to connect your digitizer to it, then you will need a USB to
Serial adapter.
Please Note: We have had a few users go to their local computer supply store and buy a USB to serial adapter only to find
out that they do not work with a digitizer. We have found that some of the less expensive adapters do not have enough intelligence in their
device drivers to correctly set up all the setting needed to communicate with a GTCO digitizer. They were created mainly to work with a serial
mouse.
